Farming Practices

About the Cattle

We have been raising Black Angus cattle on our farms for over 50 years. They are fed only grass and hay grown on our farms and are fed no externally sourced feed. These cows have never been exposed to any hormones or steroids. The only thing they have ever consumed is grass, hay, salt and minerals, water, and occasional hand fed garden vegetables. The hay is grown using only standard minerals and soil fertilizers.

The calves are kept with their mother for typically about 8 months. In some cases the calves are never moved from the pasture where they were originally born. We strive to give these cattle a stress free environment. These cattle have continuous free access to open field grazing area year round. During winter they are fed in the barn but are not confined.
